IADEMA

STORY

IADEMA is an Italian composer, performer, sound and multimedia artist, based in Bern (Switzerland) and Graz (Austria). His works and research are based on the exploration of digital and analogue imperfections, connected to the broader philosophical concept of matter in relation to audio and audiovisual objects. He has become increasingly interested in the structural correlations between sound and the visual environment, seeking ways in which elements from different sensory fields can be perceived as a single component, leading to an art form that can no longer be categorized. This led him to turn his interest to an artistic typology that takes into account all its expressions: from sound to architecture, from video to sculpture, including performance, light design and everything in between.

In terms of sound, Iadema focuses on the abstraction of stylistic elements from techno, glitch and pop music, concentrating on their essence, merged with contemporary artistic experimentation. His works include instrumental compositions with or without live electronics, as well as multimedia installations and sculptures, fixed media audiovisual works, acousmatic works and live performances.

He holds a Master degree in classical piano from the Conservatoire of Brescia (IT), a Bachelor degree in Computer Music and a Bachelor degree in Classical Composition from the University of music and performing art Graz (AT). Iadema is currently pursuing a Master degree in Composition and Creative Practice at Hochschule der Künste Bern, under the guidance of Simon Steen Andersen and Gilbert Nouno.

COLLECTION

DESCRIPTION

Un_i[n]verso is a collection of 100 unique audiovisual miniatures and images related to each other.

On a dramaturgical level, it can be summarised as a constant, slow zoom  that starts from macroscopic dimensions, entering deconstructed cities and their details, floating between reality and imagination.

The NFT series is modelled on the concept of the physical audiovisual sculpture and its narrative, for lights/shadows,  concrete reinforcement sculptures, 4ch sound diffusion and video projection. The work stems from the desire to explore the broad concept of matter, between concreteness and transparency, with the aim of establishing a system in which different types of media merge with each other. Thus, creating an artistic form in  which the viewer no longer perceived them as separated, but rather experiences them as a whole.

The digital works are an integral part of the concept of the physical version of the project, namely that of it’s constant dematerialisation.
